Mouse KLK1 is a secreted serine protease containing conserved catalytic core domains and substrate recognition motifs that sustain intact protein conformation under physiological conditions. It is released into extracellular fluid by glandular epithelial and renal cell populations. Its soluble proteolytic structure and exocrine tissue-biased expression differentiate it from integral transmembrane receptors, cytoplasmic scaffolding adaptors and intranuclear transcriptional regulators with streamlined single-domain assemblies and static single-compartment subcellular localization profiles.
