Mouse family with sequence similarity 19, member A3 (FAM19A3) is a secreted protein of the FAM19 cytokine-like family. It features a conserved N-terminal signal peptide, a cysteine-rich domain and C-terminal structural motifs critical for intermolecular interaction. It localizes to extracellular matrix and tissue interstitial spaces, with tissue-specific expression in mouse brain, spinal cord and gastrointestinal tract, with negligible levels in skeletal muscle and adipose tissue. The protein mediates protein-ligand association and structural assembly, with conserved functional regions shared with mammalian orthologs, and has distinct specificity differentiating it from FAM19A1 and FAM19A2.
