Target Information
Microtubule-associated protein RP/EB family member 1 is a plus-end tracking protein (+TIP) that binds to the microtubules' plus-end, regulating the dynamics of the microtubule cytoskeleton. In mice, MAPRE1 plays a vital role in microtubule dynamics, cell division, and cognitive function. It is crucial for neuronal structure and collaborates with other genes like Cntn1 and Ppp2r2c to regulate learning and memory. MAPRE1 works in conjunction with ADNP (activity-dependent neuronal protein) to protect cognitive function in mice. The expression of MAPRE1 is linked to various diseases in mouse models. For example, it is upregulated in Pompe disease, while exhibiting different expression patterns in other conditions such as Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) and bone muscular dystrophy (BMD).
