Target Information
Porcine leptin is a hormone primarily secreted by adipocytes in response to changes in body weight and energy balance. It plays a critical role in regulating feed intake, energy expenditure, and the neuroendocrine axis. Leptin acts through its receptor, which is a member of the class 1 cytokine receptor family and is localized in the brain and pituitary gland. This hormone also influences immune function and reproductive processes, including the regulation of gonadotropin-releasing hormone and luteinizing hormone secretion. Additionally, leptin has been implicated in modulating ovarian function and corpus luteum activity during pregnancy.
