Target Information

Rickettsia felis is a bacterium species responsible for causing cat-flea typhus in humans, also referred to as flea-borne spotted fever. Fleas have long been recognized as the vectors for Rickettsia felis, and this bacterium is found in cat flea populations across North and South America, Southern Europe, Africa, Thailand, and Australia. Human infection typically occurs when flea feces come into contact with scratched or broken skin.
