Target Information

Rat toll like receptor 5 (TLR5) is a transmembrane pattern recognition receptor of the TLR family, a core mediator of innate immune responses to bacterial components. It features an N-terminal leucine-rich repeat (LRR) domain for flagellin binding, a single transmembrane segment, and a C-terminal Toll/interleukin-1 receptor (TIR) domain critical for downstream signal transduction. It localizes predominantly to the plasma membrane of rat intestinal epithelial cells and immune cells like macrophages, with negligible expression in non-mucosal and non-immune tissues. The protein mediates TIR-domain dependent signaling assembly, with conserved structural motifs differentiating it from TLR4 and TLR9.
