Specifications
Target Information
Ovalbumin is a 45 kDa monomeric serpin whose eight-strand β-barrel and five α-helices dominate egg-white protein, providing a model allergen and carrier for hapten immunization. A solvent-exposed 14-aa "KVE" loop (aa 125-138) between helices 3 and 4 folds into a β-hairpin unique among avian serpins, presenting a conformational epitope preserved after denaturation and fixation. Affinity-purified antibodies targeting this loop trace native ovalbumin in oviduct magnum, egg-white globules, and immunized serum, delivering crisp vesicular staining and single-band clarity on immunoblots with no cross-reaction to conalbumin or ovomucoid.
