Target Information
Mouse acetyl-CoA carboxylase alpha (ACCα) is a key enzyme involved in lipid metabolism, catalyzing the conversion of acetyl-CoA to malonyl-CoA. This reaction is essential for fatty acid synthesis and also regulates fatty acid oxidation by inhibiting carnitine palmitoyltransferase I. ACCα is highly expressed in tissues with high rates of fatty acid synthesis, such as the liver and adipose tissue. Its activity is tightly regulated by hormones and nutritional status, ensuring proper lipid homeostasis.
