Target Information
Bovine S100 calcium-binding protein B (S100B) is a 92-residue, 10.5 kDa EF-hand calcium sensor that forms non-covalent homodimers bridged by hydrophobic residues Phe47 and Leu44. Each subunit presents a typical helix-loop-helix motif that binds Ca²⁺ with micromolar affinity, triggering a conformational switch exposing a hydrophobic cleft for target interaction. Constitutively expressed in brain, adipose and chondrocyte tissues, S100B localizes to cytoplasm, nucleus and extracellular space. Antibodies raised against full-length bovine S100B detect native, calcium-bound and oxidized forms with negligible cross-reactivity to S100A1 or S100A6, enabling selective immunoblot and immunohistochemical visualization in bovine tissue homogenates and sections.

This product is shipped with wet ice packs. Store at -20°C on receipt (up to 12 months). Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody.
