Antipyrine, also known as phenazone, is an analgesic and antipyretic drug that was historically used in human medicine and continues to see use in veterinary medicine in some regions. It is often combined with other medications to treat protozoal infections like trypanosomiasis and babesiosis in livestock such as cattle, horses, and sheep. Due to its use in food-producing animals, antipyrine has been identified as a potential residue in meat and milk.
