Target Information
Estrogens, essentially the three major forms: estrone (E1), estradiol (E2) and estriol (E3), are a group of hormones that are necessary for the development of female characteristics and reproduction. Estradiol (17β-estradiol or E2), the biologically relevant estrogen, is synthesized directly from the aromatization of testosterone by the enzyme aromatase (estrogen synthase), a product of the cyp19 gene.
