Target Information

Signal Transducer and Activator of Transcription 5A is encoded by the STAT5A gene in pigs. It plays a critical role in the differentiation of several myeloid cell lines. STAT5A activation is induced by interleukin-5 (IL-5), which is involved in eosinophil differentiation. Research has shown that STAT5A positively regulates the transcription of porcine cytokine-inducible SH2-containing protein (CISH), and a SNP in STAT5A was associated with the Min piglet growth trait.
