Target Information
Relaxin-3 is likely involved in neuropeptide signaling processes as a ligand for LGR7, relaxin-3 receptor-1, and relaxin-3 receptor-2. In mice, RLN3 is primarily expressed in the nucleus incertus (NI) of the brain, located near the ventrolateral nucleus of the thalamus (VPL) and the ventrolateral hypothalamus (VLPO). It is also found in the hippocampus, thalamus, ventral diencephalon, and limbic system. RLN3 performs a variety of functions in mice, including roles in arousal, stress response, emotion, cognition, and metabolism. Notably, the functions of RLN3 vary between sexes, with studies indicating that male and female mice exhibit different behaviors in the absence of RLN3.
