Target Information

Fibrinogen is a "positive" acute phase protein. It is a large, soluble glycoprotein synthesized by the liver and circulates in the bloodstream in its inactive form. When a blood vessel is injured, fibrinogen undergoes a series of transformations to become fibrin, the insoluble protein that forms the fibrous mesh of a blood clot.
