Target Information
Mouse Serpin A12 (Serpina12), also known as vaspin, is a serine protease inhibitor belonging to the serpin family. It is predominantly expressed in adipose tissue and plays roles in insulin sensitization, anti-inflammatory responses, and metabolic regulation. Vaspin interacts with kallikrein 7 and 14, which are involved in skin desquamation, and accelerates the inhibition of kallikrein 7 through heparin interactions. It has been implicated in diseases such as metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, and inflammation. Vaspin reduces food intake and lowers blood glucose levels in mice, suggesting potential therapeutic applications in metabolic disorders.
