Target Information

Indoxyl sulphate (IS, also known as 3-indoxyl sulphate and 3-indoxyl sulphuric acid, is a metabolite of dietary L-tryptophan that acts as a cardiotoxin and uremic toxin. It is derived from dietary protein, specifically from the metabolism of tryptophan. High concentrations of indoxyl sulfate in blood plasma are associated with the development and progression of chronic kidney disease and vascular disease in humans.
