Target Information

N(6)-Carboxymethyllysine (CML) is an advanced glycation endproduct (AGE). CML is generated when the amino acid lysine reacts with reducing sugars (such as glucose or fructose). CML is associated with oxidative stress, inflammation, and age-related diseases. It accumulates in tissues and contributes to the pathogenesis of conditions like diabetes, atherosclerosis, and kidney disease. In a porcine model, the contents of CML in the ileal chyme were positively correlated to their contents in the diets.
