Target Information

Staphylococcus sciuri is a coagulase-negative, novobiocin-resistant, oxidase-positive species of staphylococci. It is a bacterial pathogen linked to infections in both animals and humans and serves as a reservoir for the mecA gene, which encodes methicillin resistance in staphylococci. S. sciuri has been identified as an invasive pathogen in animals, causing wound infections and mastitis.
