Target Information

Listeria is a genus of bacteria that functions as an intracellular parasite in mammals. Listeriosis is more frequently observed in rabbits and rodents compared to dogs and cats. Rabbits and chinchillas, a type of South American rodent, are particularly susceptible to these bacteria. The disease typically leads to bloodstream infections, with pregnancy loss and uterine inflammation being common, especially in chinchillas.
