Target Information

Rabbit Tartrate-Resistant Acid Phosphatase Type 5 (ACP5) is an iron-containing glycoprotein that functions as a lysosomal enzyme with high activity towards phosphoproteins and ATP. In rabbits, ACP5 is a key marker for osteoclasts and is involved in bone resorption. It also plays a role in the dephosphorylation of osteopontin and bone sialoprotein. ACP5 has been implicated in various pathological states, such as Gaucher disease and Hodgkin's disease, where its expression increases. Additionally, ACP5 has been shown to promote cell cycle entry in preadipocytes by enhancing IGF-1/Akt signaling. Its involvement in immune responses and inflammation has also been demonstrated, with ACP5-deficient mice showing impaired macrophage function and delayed clearance of pathogens. ACP5 is thus an important target for studying bone metabolism, immune responses, and related diseases.
