Target Information
In mouse models, p-Tau (phosphorylated tau protein) is closely linked to various neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer's disease (AD) and chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE). In the 3xTg-AD mouse model, p-Tau accumulation is strongly associated with cognitive decline, with studies indicating a significant correlation between p-Tau levels and spatial learning and memory abilities. For instance, an increase in p-Tau density across different brain regions, such as the hippocampus and cortex, corresponds with impaired performance in the Morris water maze task. Moreover, the phosphorylation status of p-Tau (notably AT8 and PHF-1) correlates positively with cognitive deterioration, suggesting that while Aβ (β-amyloid protein) is also implicated in AD, p-Tau may serve as a more direct pathological marker. Additionally, in mouse models, repetitive mild brain injury (rTBI) leads to p-Tau accumulation, particularly in white matter and cortical areas.
