Target Information

Hathewaya limosa is an anaerobic bacterium linked to various infections, including prosthetic valve endocarditis, although its association with empyema is rare. This Gram-positive, spore-forming bacillus usually resides in soil and has been isolated from infections in animals like chickens, alligators, and cattle. Studies in animals have demonstrated that H. limosa induces muscle and tissue damage through collagenases and lecithinases.
