Target Information
The growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHS-R), commonly referred to as the ghrelin receptor, is a G protein-coupled receptor that binds with growth hormone secretagogues (GHSs), including ghrelin, known as the "hunger hormone." Upon activation of GHSR, a variety of intracellular signaling pathways have been suggested. In cattle, this receptor is encoded by the GHSR gene. The function of GHSR in cattle may be closely related to appetite regulation, energy metabolism and neuroendocrine function. Although there are few studies on bovine GHSR, its role in other mammals provides an important reference.
