Target Information

Anaplasma centrale is an intra-erythrocytic rickettsial pathogen responsible for causing mild anaplasmosis in cattle. Anaplasma centrale was first isolated from a heifer in South Africa. It is frequently used as a vaccine to protect against A. marginale infections. Both A. marginale and A. centrale are commonly found as co-infections in African buffalo.
