Streptococcus cristatus is a species of viridans Streptococcus characterized by tufted fibrils. It was first isolated from the human oral cavity and throat. Similar to other members of the Mitis streptococcus group, Streptococcus cristatus inhabits the mucosal surfaces of the oral cavity.
