Giardia intestinalis, also referred to as Giardia lamblia or Giardia duodenalis, is a protozoan parasite. It ranks among the most commonly encountered parasitic diseases globally. Molecular studies of Giardia isolates from both humans and animals have identified two genetically distinct groups, known as assemblage A and assemblage B. Assemblage A is predominantly detected in young cattle.
