Target Information

Enterocloster clostridioformis, previously known as Clostridium clostridioforme, is an anaerobic, motile, Gram-positive bacterium. Although Clostridium species typically have cell walls similar to gram-positive bacteria, E. clostridioformis often shows up as Gram-negative in staining. Initially identified in the 1950s in both human and animal feces, this organism was originally classified under the genus Bacteroides, which comprises Gram-negative, non-spore-forming bacteria.
