Target Information

Borrelia is a genus of bacteria belonging to the spirochete phylum. Several species within this genus are responsible for causing Lyme disease, also known as Lyme borreliosis, a zoonotic and vector-borne disease. Borrelia spielmanii is part of the Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato (s.l.) complex and has been identified as a human pathogenic genospecies responsible for causing Lyme disease in Europe.
