Target Information
Vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE) are resistant to vancomycin, a common treatment for infections caused by enterococci. There are six types of vancomycin resistance identified in enterococcus: Van-A, Van-B, Van-C, Van-D, Van-E, and Van-G. Van-A VRE is noteworthy for being resistant to both vancomycin and teicoplanin, Van-B VRE is resistant to vancomycin but remains susceptible to teicoplanin, and Van-C exhibits only partial resistance to vancomycin.
