Rat Osteosarcoma Cell Line-UMR-106 was established in 1976 from a rat osteosarcoma clone induced by injection of the radioisotope phosphorus. This cell line originated from the bone tissue of Sprague-Dawley rats, is transplantable, and can form subcutaneous tumors. The cells are responsive to PTH, prostaglandins, and osteolytic steroids. The cells were transfected with lentivirus to carry the Luciferase gene.
