Mouse Hypothalamic GnRH Neuron Cell Line-GT1-7

Cat. No.CC7F52

Product TypeAnimal Cells and Cell Lines

Product Overview

Mouse Hypothalamic GnRH Neuron Cell Line-GT1-7 is an immortalized, mature mouse hypothalamic GnRH neuron cell line. These immortalized GnRH neurons were created by introducing a transgene into mice. This transgene contained the GnRH gene promoter region linked to the SV40 T-antigen oncogene coding sequence. The resulting anterior hypothalamic tumors were then removed from a mouse, and the cells were isolated and cloned. GT1-7 is a clonal line of mature, differentiated GnRH neurons, exhibiting high levels of Gnrh1 mRNA and secreting GnRH in response to depolarization. The scarcity and dispersed distribution of GnRH neurons in the rostral hypothalamus make biological studies of these cells challenging. Thus, GT1-7 cells serve as a valuable in vitro model for hypothalamic GnRH-secreting neurons.
