Target Information

First described in 1997, Actinomyces europaeus is a short, nonmotile, facultative anaerobic rod. It stands out as one of the most antibiotic-resistant species within its genus. A. europaeus is increasingly associated with causing necrotizing soft tissue infections. This gram-positive, filamentous bacillus has been well-documented in the past as a cause of abscesses, decubitus ulcers, and urinary tract infections.
