Target Information

Staphylococcus pseudintermedius is a commensal bacterium present on the skin and mucous membranes, commonly found in companion animals. In some populations of healthy dogs, the carriage of S. pseudintermedius exceeds 80%. It acts as an opportunistic pathogen, responsible for severe and necrotizing infections, and is frequently isolated from the skin, ears, bones, and post-surgical abscesses.
