Rat Small Intestinal Crypt Epithelial Cell Line-IEC6 is an epithelial cell line derived from the crypts of the rat small intestine, possessing typical epithelial cell morphology and functional characteristics. Their growth can be inhibited by cortisol. These cells express antigens specific to intestinal epithelial cells. They maintain a constant growth rate and cell morphology up to approximately 20 passages, after which their growth rate declines rapidly and their cell morphology also changes.
