Mouse Bone Marrow Stromal Cell Line-OP9
Product Overview
Mouse Bone Marrow Stromal Cell Line-OP9 originated from the calvaria of newborn op/op mice. Due to a mutation in the gene encoding M-CSF, it cannot produce functional macrophage colony-stimulating factor (M-CSF). The presence of M-CSF has an inhibitory effect on the differentiation of embryonic stem (ES) cells into hematopoietic cells rather than other macrophage types. OP9 cells can be co-cultured with mouse embryonic stem cells to induce the differentiation of ES cells into erythroid, myeloid, and B-lymphoid lineage blood cells. Co-culturing with OP9 does not require exogenous growth factors or complex embryonic structures. This system is useful for studying the molecular mechanisms of hematopoietic cell development and differentiation.
