Target Information
Rat Apolipoprotein A1 (APOA1) is the major protein component of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) particles. It plays a crucial role in reverse cholesterol transport (RCT), facilitating the removal of excess cholesterol from peripheral tissues to the liver for excretion. APOA1 is primarily synthesized by hepatocytes and released into the bloodstream. It interacts with ATP-binding cassette transporter A1 (ABCA1) to promote cholesterol efflux and with lecithin-cholesterol acyltransferase (LCAT) to mature HDL particles. Additionally, APOA1 has anti-inflammatory properties, reducing the risk of atherosclerosis and cardiovascular diseases.
