Bovine adenoviral infections are likely widespread in cattle populations around the globe. Bovine adenoviruses (BAVs) have been identified in both the respiratory and digestive tracts of cattle, regardless of whether they show symptoms or not. With 10 recognized serotypes, this virus is found worldwide, with increased prevalence in Africa and Central America. Among these serotypes, Bovine adenovirus 4 serves as the reference strain for the Bovine atadenovirus D species and was first isolated and characterized in Hungary.
