Bony Fish (Osteichthyes) are a large group in the subphylum Vertebrata that contains the most extant fish species. They are widely distributed in freshwater and marine environments and are very diverse. By using kinds of Bony Fish (Osteichthyes), BioVenic provides a wide variety of services for scientific research.
Due to the richness of treasured fossil resources, fish species, and genomic information, Bony Fish (Osteichthyes) make very valuable models for research in aquatic organisms, especially genetics and evolution, environment, and ecology. For example, it has been shown that the molecular basis of air-breathing ability and air olfaction was already present in the ancestor of Bony Fish (Osteichthyes), which is an important research basis to support the process of vertebrate evolution from aquatic to terrestrial, and the evolution of lungs and other organs. In addition, some populations of Bony Fish (Osteichthyes) with physiological mechanisms similar to those of humans play an important role in disease research and drug discovery.

Bony Fish (Osteichthyes) have important applications in several fields. Firstly, by studying their population structure and health, toxicity assays can be used to monitor water bodies in real-time and assess the level of pollution, which can be used to develop strategies for ecosystem protection. Secondly, most Bony Fish (Osteichthyes) are good model organisms, such as zebrafish (Danio rerio), which can be used as classic models for gene function research, developmental biology, and toxicology, and used in genetic engineering, drug screening, and other aspects. In addition, as aquatic products, breeding, and genetic improvement research are also very important, based on Bony Fish (Osteichthyes) as the research object, we can study the genome breeding technology to improve the growth rate, disease resistance, and adaptability to the environment of farmed fish. Of course, their bones are also highly mineralized and retain their elasticity, making them a high-quality research option for developing bionic artificial bone in materials science.
