The Story of Barbra Streisand and Her Dogs

In Hollywood, it is well known that Barbra Streisand loves dogs. In 2003, Sammie came to Streisand and has since become her precious darling. Streisand spent almost all her time with Sammie. Whether she went to a music festival, a TV show, or a beach vacation, Sammie's little white figure was always around. "Sammie is the most beautiful thing you've ever seen. She's like the daughter I never had." Streisand once said.

Sammie passed away in May 2017. The departure of the Tullier dog that had accompanied Streisand for 14 years left her with great grief. Streisand said in an interview, “I was so devastated by the loss of my dear Samantha, after 14 years together, that I just wanted to keep her with me in some way. It was easier to let Sammie go if I knew I could keep some part of her alive, something that came from her DNA. A friend had cloned his beloved dog, and I was very impressed with that dog. So, Sammie's doctor took some cells from inside her cheek and the skin on her tummy just before she died.” After some efforts by the researchers, they successfully replicated two puppies, Violet and Scarlett, which are exactly the same as Sammie. She realized the dream of regenerating her beloved pets.

The Benefits of Pet

Nowadays, an increasing number of people consider pets as part of the family. In the United States alone, nearly 75 million households have at least one pet, which means that 60% of Americans own a pet. And the number of domestic cats worldwide is more than 500 million. Pets are comforting companions, beloved members of our family. People enjoy their companionship, going for a walk, playing and even talking to them. They make us happy and relieve stress, they play and show us love, they keep us from feeling lonely. There is relevant evidence that attachment to pets is beneficial to human health. Pets, especially dogs and cats, can help us reduce stress, anxiety and depression, relieve loneliness, encourage exercise and play, and even improve our cardiovascular health. Taking care of animals can help children grow up more safely and actively. Pets also provide valuable companionship for the elderly. Raising a kitten or a puppy, even if one is working hard outside, there will always be a cute little life in the house quietly waiting for the return of the only hero in its mind.

Pet Cloning for Pet Owners

Pets make the world a better place. However, most pets have a much shorter lifespan than humans, so parting and sorrow are always inevitable. "I understand the urge to try to keep your dog alive forever,” said Alexandra Horowitz, author of Inside of a Dog, ”One of the great sadness of living with a dog is that the time we spend living with them is so short.” When the beloved pet leaves, the sadness at the bottom of one's heart is hard to express. At present, with the development of technology, we have an opportunity to keep pets around all the time. BioVenic is driving the innovations to bring pets and pet parents closer together and elevating the hope of pet owners alike by our pet cloning technology to realize the dream of life-long accompany.
