Target Information

Yersinia ruckeri, a Gram-negative, rod-shaped enterobacterium, belongs to the genus Yersinia within the family Enterobacteriaceae. It is the pathogen that causes enteric redmouth disease (ERM), a significant septicemic bacterial illness affecting salmonid fish species. ERM was first identified in rainbow trout in the United States in 1952.
