Target Information

Yersinia enterocolitica, the causative agent of yersiniosis, is a bacterium whose pathogenicity is partly defined by its toxin production capabilities. Classic pathogenic strains of Y. enterocolitica possess the ystA gene, enabling them to produce the YST enterotoxin. This enterotoxin is synthesized as a polypeptide chain containing 30 amino acids in the C-terminal domain, where the mature component of the toxin resides, along with an 18-amino acid N-terminal signal sequence.
