Target Information

Tilapia lake virus (TiLV) is a severe disease affecting both farmed and wild tilapia, leading to high mortality rates in infected fish. The virus was first discovered and identified in 2014 during a significant and noticeable decline in tilapia catch quantities in the Sea of Galilee (Kinneret Lake) in Israel.
