Target Information
Terbutaline is a beta-2 adrenergic receptor agonist legally used as a bronchodilator in human and veterinary medicine. However, it can be illegally misused as a "lean meat powder" (growth promoter) in livestock farming to increase muscle mass and reduce fat accumulation. Consuming animal-derived foods (such as meat or offal) containing terbutaline residues can trigger adverse cardiovascular effects in humans, including tachycardia, muscle tremors, headaches, and dizziness, posing a significant public health risk.
