Target Information
Ferritin serves as a reservoir for iron. Ferritin is encoded by the porcine FE gene. It is a biomarker related to Fe that is involved in several cellular functions and has a role in inflammation. Research has shown that salivary levels of Zn, Cu, Fe and ferritin in pigs can vary during different stages of fattening and at different times of the day.
