Target Information
The C-terminal telopeptide (CTX), also known as carboxy-terminal collagen crosslinks, is a peptide sequence found at the C-terminal end of fibrillar collagens, including collagen type I and type II. C-terminal cross-linked telopeptide of type I collagen (CTX-I) is a marker of collagen degradation that appears to be associated with adverse cardiovascular outcomes. The CTX biomarker helps evaluate the risk of osteonecrosis in patients taking bisphosphonates.
