Target Information
Calcitonin-related polypeptide beta (CALCB) is a 37-amino acid neuropeptide that is a highly potent vasodilator that is widely distributed in peripheral sensory neurons, especially in unmyelinated C-fibers and thinly myelinated A-fibers. CGRP-beta is part of the calcitonin family, which includes other peptides like calcitonin, amylin, adrenomedullin, and adrenomedullin 2 (intermedin). β-CGRP differs from α-CGRP by only three amino acids and is encoded in a separate, nearby gene.
