Streptococcus macedonicus is one of the Streptococcus thermophilus-like microorganisms that are part of the S. bovis/S. equinus complex. This dairy Streptococcus, first isolated from naturally fermented Greek Kasseri cheese, is recognized for its food-grade and non-pathogenic status.
