Target Information

Neutrophil elastase is encoded by the ELANE gene in sheep. Research has shown that elastase liberated by stimulated sheep polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMNs) is inactivated by a concomitantly released proteinase inhibitor also located within the sheep PMNs.
