Target Information
Schistosoma nasalae is a species of digenetic trematode within the family Schistosomatidae. It causes nasal schistosomiasis, also known as snoring disease, by inhabiting the nasal veins of cattle and buffaloes, as well as sheep, goats, and horses on the Indian subcontinent. The primary intermediate host is the freshwater snail Indoplanorbis exustus, which may serve as the sole natural intermediate host for S. nasale and two other Schistosoma species in this region.
