Schistosoma mekongi is a species of trematodes, commonly known as flukes. It is one of the five main schistosome species responsible for all human infections. Various animals, including cattle, dogs, cats, rodents, pigs, horses, and goats, act as reservoirs for S. japonicum, while dogs specifically serve as reservoirs for S. mekongi.
